Teaching strategies for introducing entrepreneurship in the classroom

Overview

This micro-credential trains participants in the design of educational experiences based on real-world challenges, applying methodologies for ideation and proposal validation. The program culminates in the development of a complete educational entrepreneurship project geared towards its implementation.

Goals

  • To train teachers to design and implement learning experiences that develop an entrepreneurial culture through active methodologies and practical tools applicable in the classroom.
  • Design educational challenges connected to real-world problems.
  • Apply tools such as Empathy Map, Brainwriting, SCAMPER and Lean Canvas.
  • Develop a real project that can be implemented in the classroom.

Access requirements

To access the microcredential, you will need to:

  1. To hold an official Spanish university degree or another degree issued by a higher education institution belonging to another Member State of the European Higher Education Area, which qualifies for access to master's level studies in that State.
  2. Holding a degree issued by an educational system outside the European Higher Education Area without official recognition or a declaration of equivalence. In these cases, the academic director will submit a report to the Academic Committee, which will authorize or deny admission. Under no circumstances will authorization imply official recognition of the foreign degree.,
    nor its recognition for purposes other than pursuing postgraduate studies at the ULL.

Specifically, individuals who access this micro-credential must be actively employed as teachers at any educational level.
In addition, the student who wishes to gain admission must meet the following admission requirements:

  • Be between 25 and 64 years of age on the start date of the
    training.

Academic program

Contents

Module 1: Entrepreneurial Culture and Purpose

  • The role of the teacher as a facilitator of learning and entrepreneurship.
  • Strategies to foster creativity, initiative, and autonomy in students.
  • Design of active and collaborative learning environments.
  • Identifying personal purpose: interests, values, and motivations.
  • Relationship between vocation, talent and entrepreneurial opportunities.
  • Practical application of the Ikigai model for identifying opportunities.

Module 2: Problem Identification and Ideation

  • Observation of the environment and detection of needs and problems.
  • Transforming problems into entrepreneurial opportunities.
  • Understanding the user through the Empathy Map.
  • Application of creativity techniques such as SCAMPER.
  • Generation, selection and prioritization of ideas based on their impact and feasibility.

Module 3: Structuring Ideas

  • Introduction to Lean methodology applied to educational projects.
  • Using the Lean Canvas as a design and planning tool.
  • Definition of project activities, resources, partners, and channels.
  • Development and adjustment of the project model.

Module 4: Validation and evaluation

  • Validation of ideas and formulation of hypotheses.
  • Prototyping and user testing techniques.
  • Project presentation using pitch format (Mini Demo Day).
  • Analysis of results, competency assessment and final reflection on learning.

Methodology and activities

The training activities to be carried out during the delivery of the micro-credential will be:

  • Theoretical classes: expository, explanatory or demonstration sessions of the contents and knowledge.
  • Practical classes: sessions of practical application of the content developed in the
    theoretical classes, through the resolution of exercises, problems or theoretical-practical assumptions.

Regarding the way to organize the teaching to achieve the objectives set out in the micro-credential, the organizational modality summarized below will be followed:

  • Lectures/expository method: presentation or explanation by the
    faculty.
  • Individual work: individual preparation of assignments/projects/reports, portfolio…
  • Personal study: preparation for tests, exams, etc.
  • Assessment: written tests, oral tests, practical tests, …
  • Tutoring: instruction period in which teachers and students interact with the aim of reviewing and discussing materials and topics presented in class.

Evaluation criteria

The microcredential will have an evaluation system (ES) based on the following evaluation tests:

● Objective tests (true/false, multiple choice, test-type, fill-in-the-blank, ordering, etc.): These are measurement instruments that allow the evaluation of knowledge, skills, performance, aptitudes, etc. The answers are closed-ended, thus promoting objectivity during the scoring process.

● Case, exercise and problem solving: tests in which students must solve, in a reasoned manner, within a certain time, and according to the established criteria, the cases, exercises or problems posed by the teaching staff, with the aim of applying the knowledge acquired.

●Works, memoirs, internship reports, written reports and projects: document prepared on a topic or activity carried out, following the instructions established by the teaching staff.

● Oral presentation and defense of topics, assignments, etc.: oral presentation on a topic related to the micro-credential content or on the results of an assignment, exercise, or project, followed by a discussion with the teaching staff. This can be done individually or in a group.
