The objective of the undergraduate degree in Pharmacy is to train professionals in medicines and their impact on health. As healthcare professionals, they will be competent in activities related to the production, preservation, and dispensing of medicines, as well as in collaboration with analytical, pharmacotherapeutic, and public health surveillance processes.
For post-secondary studies, it is recommended that students choose chemistry, mathematics, physics, and biology. It is also considered essential for new students to have a basic level of English and computer skills.
The profession of pharmacist qualifies, exclusively compared to other professionals, for the practice of healthcare, whether employed or self-employed, in the situations required by the Law on the Regulation of Healthcare Professions. Furthermore, graduates in Pharmacy will be responsible, in free competition with other professionals, for activities related to the production, preservation, and dispensing of medications, collaboration in analytical processes, and functions in the following areas: healthcare, research, teaching, clinical management, prevention, and health information and education.
The degree in Pharmacy qualifies students to work in pharmacies, the pharmaceutical industry and distribution, in hospital and non-hospital specializations, in analytical laboratories, in healthcare management, and in educational and research activities.
