How did the IMN come about?
The University Institute of Materials and Nanotechnology (IMN) at the University of La Laguna was founded as an initiative of several research groups at the ULL whose work focuses on materials and nanotechnology. The initial idea was to create an interdisciplinary research center that would bring together the diverse yet complementary aspects of these fields. Therefore, the IMN's members come from the disciplines of Physics, Chemistry, and Engineering.
It was created on June 6, 2008 by decree 121/2008 of the Government of the Canary Islands (BOC no. 112 of June 6, 2008) as a University Research Institute of the University of La Laguna under the Organic Law (6/2001) of Universities of December 21, 2001 and the Statutes of the University of La Laguna (ULL), and in accordance with the current provisions that develop the preceding regulations in this matter.
