The groups in this area focus on the study of cognitive and learning disabilities, which are highly prevalent among school-aged children and adolescents. They are interested in dyslexia, specific language impairment, and factors related to human diversity frequently associated with social exclusion. Other groups address the study of educational challenges within the context of families and schools.

Interests

The GINDE group is comprised of a team of professionals (psychologists, neuropsychologists, neurologists, pediatricians, neonatologists, and psychiatrists) whose main objective is to study the relationship between the brain and behavior within the dynamic context of brain development. In other words, we aim to study the relationship between the acquisition of complex psychological functions (language, memory, intelligence, executive functions, etc.) and cortical development in both childhood and adolescence.

Ongoing lines of research

  • ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)
  • Neuropsychological characterization of dyslexia.
  • Neuropsychological assessment in focal epilepsies.
  • Study of the neuropsychological development pattern in premature infants.
  • Neuropsychological assessment in pediatric oncology.
  • Adaptation of neuropsychological assessment tests to the child population.
  • Study of the neuropsychological characteristics of children with obesity.
