THE project GenderScience: university action against gender-based violence (Emerging Researchers reference 2023/2321: 'Photovoice: Participatory Methodology and Experiential Learning') emerges as a response to the challenge of gender-based violence within the Spanish academic environment, under the auspices of the University of La Laguna. This inter-university initiative seeks to address the complex reality of gender-based violence through the transfer and adaptation of the methodologies and successes of the international project PhV_SeGReV  (Ref. 2020 INDOV 00003) adjusting them to the particularities and needs of our educational community.

The project strategy GenderScience It unfolds along two fundamental axes, intertwined to maximize its impact. First, it focuses on deciphering and understanding students' perceptions and attitudes regarding gender-based violence through a questionnaire meticulously designed and validated in the context of SeGReVUni. In parallel, the project delves into the pedagogical sphere with the implementation of Photonarrative workshops, evaluating the power of Photovoice as an educational tool. This methodology serves as a vehicle to raise awareness about gender-based violence and to encourage a proactive change in students' attitudes and perceptions, fostering a culture of respect, equality, and safety.

Taken together, GenderScience It is not only proposed as a mechanism for intervention and change against gender violence in higher education, but it also reaffirms the deep commitment of the University of La Laguna to gender equality.
