2025 marks the fiftieth anniversary of Francisco Franco's death. To commemorate this event, the Vice-Rectorate for Culture and University Extension has organized a series of activities designed to illustrate how the transition from dictatorship to democracy impacted multiple areas of life, from the restoration of rights to the explosion of new forms of creativity in different disciplines.

Among the planned events, a highlight is the screening of films at the Multicines Tenerife in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, reflecting the spirit of the transition. These screenings are organized by the Film Studies Department of the University of La Laguna and the Charlas de Cine Association.

• December 3 – Gary Cooper Who Art in Heaven, 1980. Directed by Pilar Miró.
• December 10 – January 7, 1979. Directed by Juan Antonio Bardem.
• December 17 – Entretinieblas, 1983. Directed by Pedro Almodóvar.

The three screenings will be followed by a discussion led by different specialists, in which the audience will also be able to participate.
