The Tenerife Symphony Orchestra It returns to the Paraninfo of the University of La Laguna this Thursday, February 20th at 8:00 PM, with the initiative called '‘Full steam ahead with the Symphony Orchestra’', to introduce young audiences to classical music. It will feature the popularizer and expert in art history. Sara Rubayo as the event's presenter. Tickets can be purchased at Eco Tickets starting from 9 euros.
Dvořák’s Seventh Symphony will be the centerpiece of this evening’s program, reflecting a deep connection to Slavic roots and his skill in combining poignant melodies with a robust symphonic structure. This will be followed by Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde, a piece that revolutionized classical music with its innovative use of harmony and tonal suspension.
Art historian Sara Rubayo, known on YouTube as La Gata Verde (The Green Cat), who shares content ranging from the great classics of painting to the latest art trends, will host the concert. Her outreach work also extends to Instagram and X, where she shares posts, stories, and threads about art from original perspectives. Rubayo pays particular attention to rescuing women artists whom art history has relegated to the background. The result is “pintorAs” (female painters), a project born from the search and chronological arrangement of female artists under a single premise: “All included and none excluded,” regardless of how brief their biographies were.
This concert will be conducted by Shiyeon Sung, She is the first South Korean conductor to lead internationally renowned orchestras. She has worked with countless ensembles, including the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Washington.
