STARS EU, The alliance that integrates the University of La Laguna along with eight European universities has opened its second call for initial grants (Seed GrantsThis initiative aims to promote collaborative research and innovation projects among the nine partner institutions. It seeks to facilitate the preparation of competitive proposals for European programs such as Horizon Europe and FP10 through specialized advice and financial support.
The aim of these grants, valid from June 2025 to March 2026, is to support researchers, early-career researchers, and doctoral students in building international consortia and writing proposals. Projects must be aligned with the STARS EU priority areas (green transition, digital transformation, and social value and well-being) and integrate at least three universities from the alliance. Preference will be given to multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary research projects.
Each participating university may receive up to €3,000 in RIA, IA, and Cofund calls for proposals, and €2,000 in the case of CSA actions. The funds may be used to cover expenses related to international meetings, travel for external partners, external consulting services, support in drafting specific proposals, language review, and document design.
To clarify any doubts, the alliance has planned a series of informational activities, including several webinars and explanatory documents. The first webinar will be held on June 10 at 12:00 PM (CET), presented by Carl-Fredrik Miles, a member of the STARS EU Steering Committee and project manager for the alliance at the University of the West (Sweden).
