He Social Council The University of La Laguna held an ordinary plenary session today, June 5, to approve, among other matters, the academic institution's annual accounts for 2024. The manager of the teaching center, Lidia Pereira, presented the document, which has already been reviewed by the University Senate and has the approval of the Governing Council.
Pereira noted that the execution level of the initial ordinary credit, valued at 162.7 million, reached 93.641 million. The total credit at the close of the fiscal year increased by 62.701 million, reaching 284.3 million. This final amount demonstrates the university's capacity to attract new resources, generally through earmarked funding obtained through competitive research grants, as well as other income not anticipated at the beginning of the fiscal year.
The budget settlement thus demonstrates the university's growing capacity to absorb and execute its budget, the manager stated. Nevertheless, the increase in earmarked funding is notable, with a variation that represents a much larger figure than the initial ordinary budget.
The manager reiterated the suitability of having a financing instrument that guarantees a magnitude that effectively allows coverage, in any case, of the institution's operating needs, through basic and specific financing.
Lidia Pereira indicated that the budget exercise has been closely related to its context, a more efficient management of spending, the intention to further reduce credit balances and the commitment to an improvement in the trend by 2025.
At the Social Council session, the second addendum to the management contract for the spaces of the Professor Agustín Arévalo Tower was approved, for its rehabilitation and operation as a business incubator for technology-based companies, between the Tenerife Science and Technology Park SA and the University of La Laguna.
It also noted the discontinuation of the official Master's degrees in Human Resources Development and Management and Master's in Specific Educational Support Needs, while approving the public prices for the new own degrees of Certificate of Specific Training in Essential Competencies for the Digitalization and Digital Transformation of Transport and Logistics in the Canary Islands and Certificate of Specific Training in Competencies for Leadership and Management in Enabling Technologies for the Digital Transformation of Transport and Logistics in the Canary Islands.
