The University of La Laguna participated in the 2nd Conference on Best Practices in Internationalization at Home, held on July 9th and 10th at the University of Cádiz and jointly organized by that institution and the Internationalization and Cooperation Sector of CRUE Spanish Universities. The event brought together 73 representatives from 37 Spanish universities with the aim of exchanging experiences and analyzing new strategies for incorporating the international dimension into daily university activities.
The University of La Laguna was represented by the Director of the Internationalization Secretariat, Sara González, who participated in the official program presenting one of the experiences developed by the institution in the field of internationalization at home, contributing to the exchange of good practices between Spanish universities.
The conference addressed some of the main challenges currently facing higher education, including the incorporation of artificial intelligence into internationalization processes, the development of COIL projects (Collaborative Online International Learning), the internationalization of the curriculum, teaching in English, multilingualism, European university alliances and institutional strategies to ensure that the entire university community can acquire international and intercultural skills, regardless of whether or not they participate in physical mobility.
The participation of the University of La Laguna in this forum is part of its commitment to inclusive and cross-cutting internationalization, aimed at extending international learning opportunities to all students, as well as to teaching, research, technical, management and administrative and service staff.
This approach is one of the strategic lines that the University of La Laguna has been promoting for years through initiatives to internationalize the curriculum, provide training in intercultural skills, implement programs to welcome international students, conduct multicultural activities, and foster international collaboration online, establishing itself as one of the pioneering Spanish universities in this field. The institution had already presented its "internationalization at home" model as a success story at CRUE meetings and has organized several specific workshops on curriculum internationalization.
The Second Conference on Best Practices in Internationalization at Home has served to strengthen cooperation among Spanish universities and foster the creation of working networks that will allow them to continue progressing towards an internationalization that is increasingly integrated into teaching, research, and university life. The University of La Laguna's participation in this event reaffirms its commitment to the continuous improvement of its internationalization policies and to the exchange of experiences that contribute to offering higher-quality education with a greater international reach.
