The University of La Laguna and the Official College of Psychology of Santa Cruz de Tenerife have signed a collaboration agreement today, Wednesday, April 10, through which the professional organization will create, by means of a public call among its members, a directory of professionals who can collaborate in the various expert activities contemplated in the protocol for the detection, prevention and action of both psychological and sexual harassment of the academic institution.
The agreement was signed by the Rector of the University of La Laguna, Francisco García, and by the Dean of the professional association, Carmen Linares. The Secretary General of the academic institution, Juan Antonio García, was also present at the signing.
The rector indicated during the signing that this is a priority for the institution, which is committed to ensuring equality and respectful treatment of its academic staff, acting swiftly and effectively whenever any such misconduct occurs. The dean of the college also affirmed that the aim is to offer a tailored service for each individual case, adding that her intention is to collaborate more closely with the educational institution.
Therefore, individuals included on this list must have accredited experience and training in providing support in cases of violence or psychological or sexual harassment, and prior experience in providing expert testimony on this matter, either as a court-appointed expert or as a party to the case, will be considered an asset. The fact that the list of professionals is rotating, and that the same person is not always selected, facilitates transparency and ensures the neutrality of the processes, while also providing greater confidence to those involved.
This list of specialists will be provided to the university's Occupational Risk Prevention Service and will be updated annually through new public calls for applications issued by the professional association. Once the harassment protocol is activated, the university service will assign the case to the corresponding expert, following the order on the list, and the professional will have four days to accept the assignment.
The agreement, which will last for one year and can be extended by mutual agreement for similar periods up to four more times, outlines the fees that the university must pay for each activity related to the expert report, and stipulates the conditions for data protection in the cases addressed.
