A total of ten students from the University of La Laguna will participate in the project Remote Villages, with the idea of getting to know in situ The challenges and opportunities of the rural world, guided by its local entrepreneurs. This second edition of the program in Tenerife includes a visit to the municipality of The Tank, from June 5th to 9th.
This opportunity is open to both undergraduate and graduate students from any academic discipline. During these days, they will develop key skills for their professional future, such as teamwork and entrepreneurship, by practically applying methodologies such as... design thinking. In addition, they will be able to validate the experience for one credit (30 hours).
At the end of last year, the first edition of this project took place in the municipality of Garachico, with very good results. This time, the participants will once again collaborate closely with rural entrepreneurs from both the primary and tourism sectors and with local entities to gain a thorough understanding of the territory's realities and the challenges they face.
This project represents an excellent opportunity for students to connect with the rural reality of the Canary Islands, and above all, it allows them to put their talents into practice to promote the development of the area. According to the Vice-Rector for Students, Rosario Hernández, whose office manages participation in the program, “the ability to identify needs and propose innovative solutions is fundamental to driving the economic, social, and environmental progress of the Canary Islands, and our students have much to contribute in this regard.”.
Students from the University of La Laguna interested in participating in this unique experience, where all expenses are covered thanks to funding from Banco Santander, can register before May 5th through this link.
