The university also has an Information and Orientation Service (IOS), which is the office dedicated to providing information, advice, and guidance to prospective students on matters related to their education and university life, as well as directing them to the appropriate offices with any more specific requests. Welcome and orientation of new arrivals
The Doctoral School will offer a welcome day for new students, as well as information sessions on specific topics of interest. All students are also enrolled in a virtual classroom for notifications and a communication channel.Students will also attend a program presentation session led by the coordinator of the University of La Laguna's academic committee and will be included in a virtual classroom for the program.In the Doctoral School Website There are several links with information on all the necessary procedures for completing a doctoral thesis, as well as the related forms. Of particular importance for new students may be the page containing all the regulations for doctoral studies.
Internal Quality Assurance Service of the University of La Laguna
As a guarantee of the quality of teaching, its improvement, and the protection of the rights of students and faculty, the degree program is governed by specific regulations regarding dissemination mechanisms within the University of La Laguna's Internal Quality Assurance System.
The specific requirements for the Doctoral Program are to have a good command of Spanish and to possess a B1 level of English or the equivalent

Admission profile
The doctoral program is primarily focused on research in Geography, History, Art History, and Archaeology, Humanities, Philology, Translation and Interpreting, Modern Languages and Applied Linguistics, and is therefore primarily open to students from undergraduate, graduate and master's degree programs in the Arts and Humanities field, completed at any Spanish or foreign university.
Students with specific educational support needs
If any applicant has special educational needs, they must indicate this on their enrollment application and specify in detail the exact accommodations required. In this case, they must submit a certificate attesting to these needs at the time of enrollment. The selection criteria for students with special educational needs will be the same as for all other students. The Academic Committee will assess the need for any necessary curricular adaptations in these cases.
The University of La Laguna (ULL) also has a Program for Attention to Students with Specific Needs and Educational Support (PAED): https://www.ull.es/la-universidad/inclusion/ and a Pedagogical Advisory Service. Furthermore, the Quality Management System (SGC) of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (EDULPGC), certified by ANECA in 2017, which will be explicitly followed in this doctoral program, specifies PC03, Key Procedure for Student Orientation. This procedure is aimed at all students in any doctoral program with the goal of achieving successful learning and maximizing their benefit. According to this procedure, the Academic Committee of each program will develop a specific "Tutorial and Student Orientation Plan," which must be approved by the EDULPGC.
The Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program will assess and prioritize applications based on the following criteria for evaluating the merits of the candidates:

No additional training is required for students who enter according to the profiles recommended in section 3.2. Consequently, it is not appropriate to establish extraordinary requirements, since the access qualifications already guarantee the necessary training in accordance with Royal Decree 99/2011 and its amendment by RD 576/2023 and with the admission criteria of the program.
