The doctoral program will utilize collaboration agreements signed by ULPGC and ULL with European, American, Asian, and African universities to facilitate student mobility. Furthermore, thanks to research ties established between researchers at other institutions and those in our program, there are also other universities and research centers, for which no formal agreement is yet in place, that are willing to accept our students.
The University of La Laguna (ULL) has its own Research Support Plan, which includes two types of grants for doctoral students. The first consists of financial aid for research stays at national and international research centers, with the amount varying depending on the location. The second type consists of financial aid for presenting research papers at conferences and scientific meetings. The specific regulations for these calls for proposals can be found on the ULL website.
Furthermore, the Academic Committee will make the necessary contacts, at the request of the doctoral thesis supervisor, to facilitate stays of three months or more at an international institution, in order to promote the International Doctoral Distinction for doctoral theses that wish to pursue it. Flexibility in scheduling the mobility stay (combining several stays or completing it in a single year) aims to facilitate participation in this activity for part-time students. The Academic Committee may recognize mobility activities undertaken prior to enrollment in the Program.
Mobility activities
Training activity 5: 160 hours
Each doctoral student must complete at least one stay in a research center, or a university, or a documentation center (archives, libraries, museums), preferably international, although this circumstance may be changed to a similar institution in the Spanish State if the type of work carried out so advises, which added together, at the end of the training period, amount to at least one month.
The purpose of this stay will be to attend specific courses and research seminars and exchange experiences with other researchers, or consult documentation necessary for the thesis project, or acquire specific training in a particular methodology.
The thesis directors, in collaboration with the tutor and the doctoral candidate, will schedule these stays; they will be included in the training activities plan of each doctoral candidate and must therefore be approved by the doctoral academic committee.
The flexibility in the development of the mobility stay (adding several stays or carrying them out in a single year) aims to facilitate the performance of this activity for students enrolled part-time.
For the purposes of verifying mobility, the student must provide proof of it and preferably carry it out in any of the foreign institutions with which there are signed collaboration agreements (listed in the corresponding annex of this proposal), although other collaborations may also be signed in the future that are more in line with the thesis topic of each student.
