Design and planning of teaching and learning assessment processes

Overview

This micro-credential prepares students to plan and design university teaching, developing coherent guides and syllabi, and adapting methods and strategies to the current educational model. It also equips them to organize learning assessment in a comprehensive manner, linking results, activities, and instruments in face-to-face, blended, and online contexts, and to analyze assessment trends and challenges, proposing solutions consistent with the subject matter and the educational context.

Goals

  • Plan and design university teaching by developing coherent teaching guides and programs.
  • Adapt teaching methods to the current university training model and organize the evaluation of learning with specific strategies and instruments.
  • Linking learning outcomes, activities, and assessment in face-to-face, blended, and online contexts.
  • Analyze challenges and trends in university assessment and develop assessment proposals that are consistent with the subject and the context.

Academic program

Contents

  1. Foundations of quality teaching in Higher Education: characteristics, learning-centered teaching, 21st century teaching competencies.
  2. Pedagogical models and didactic approaches (constructivist, connectivist…; PBL, flipped, collaborative, active learning); instructional design.
  3. Curriculum design and teaching planning: course plans, programming, objectives/content/strategies/evaluation; Teaching Guides as a link with the verification memory; integration of transversal skills.
  4. What does it mean to evaluate learning processes? (who, what, how, when, why). 5. Challenges of learning assessment at the university level. 6. Current trends in university assessment (diagnostic, formative, summative; instruments and indicators).

Methodology and activities

Regarding the way to organize the teaching to achieve the objectives set out in the micro-credential, the organizational modality summarized below will be followed:

MD1. Lectures/expository method: presentation or explanation by the teaching staff.

MD2. Practical classes: activities supervised by the teaching staff in the classroom, laboratories, clinics.

MD4. Individual work: individual preparation of assignments/projects/reports, portfolio, …

MD5. Group work: group preparation of assignments, projects/reports, …

MD6. Personal study: preparation for tests, exams, etc.

MD7. Assessment: written, oral, practical tests, …

MD8. Tutoring: instruction period in which teachers and students interact with the aim of reviewing and discussing materials and topics presented in class.

MD10. Active methodologies: cooperative learning, project-based learning, flipped classroom, service learning, game-based learning, case studies, problem solving…

Evaluation criteria

The microcredential will have an evaluation system (ES) based on the following assessment tests:
SE1. Objective tests (true/false, multiple choice, test type, completion, ordering, etc.): measurement instruments with closed answers that promote objectivity in correction.
SE6. Attendance, participation or attitude in teaching activities, seminars, tutorials, etc.: monitoring student attendance and participation in teaching activities, carrying out activities during the sessions.
SE7. Works, memoirs, internship memoirs, reports and written projects: document prepared on a topic or activity carried out, following the instructions of the teaching staff.
