General information

The Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts from the University of La Laguna aims to train artists and visual arts professionals with skills in the processes of interdisciplinary creation and/or experimentation in all areas of work encompassed by the visual arts in the 21st century, both those corresponding to independent artistic production and new cultural manifestations based on the image—from illustration to cultural management. Furthermore, it qualifies Fine Arts graduates for postgraduate studies within the EHEA. The educational focus of the degree lies in the student's personal artistic creation project, which is developed in nine subjects from years 2 to 4, within one of the four creative areas planned for the degree (Sculpture, Illustration-Animation, Painting, and Transdisciplinary Projects) and culminates in the completion of the Final Degree Project.

The degree's entry profile is that of a person with basic knowledge of art and culture in its various forms and contexts, a curiosity and interest in contemporary art and culture, and basic skills and sensitivity in handling visual and iconic tools and materials. It is aimed at students interested in issues related to the fine arts and with a sensitivity toward art in all its forms, as well as a motivation to acquire skills related to its understanding, interpretation, and creation.

The globalization of the art market and artistic creation forces artists and art professionals to adapt to a new and complex environment of increased competitiveness, cross-disciplinary nature, and professional demands. For this reason, these programs prepare students to successfully address the numerous challenges posed by a changing, flexible, multidisciplinary, and highly technological society and art market.

A Fine Arts graduate is a professional capable of identifying and understanding the problems of art, as well as developing original artistic creation processes, both for themselves and for the cultural and audiovisual industry, through the learning of different artistic techniques and new media applied to art. Therefore, they will be able to work as:
