In relation to the competence related to the mastery of the foreign language English, this is included in the Curriculum as follows:

All subjects include at least 5% of learning activities aimed at developing this competence. This commitment will be fulfilled through one or more of the following alternatives, which will be specified in the Course Guides for the corresponding subjects and/or courses: a) the teaching of part of the content in English by the subject's instructors, either through presentations in lectures or through the use of English-language materials in practical sessions (course bibliography, opinion pieces and specialized press articles, consultation and manipulation of databases and statistical sources, etc.); b) the scheduling of activities to be carried out by students, such as summarized presentations of assignments in English, and discussions of short readings provided by the subject's instructors; c) the inclusion of English texts among the basic bibliographic references for the subject; etc. The monitoring of this objective will be supervised annually by the Center's Quality Council, through consultation of the respective Teaching Guides, and particularly their corresponding timetables.

One of the six credits allocated to the compulsory course "Research Techniques in Economics" is dedicated to developing this competency. This responsibility will be assumed by the faculty of the Department of English Philology at the University of La Laguna, who will carry out the following activities: a) report writing and b) contextualized presentations. These activities aim to facilitate students' preparation of an English summary of their Final Degree Project, as well as their (summarized) public presentation in English to the evaluation panel.

Two of the 12 credits assigned to the External Internship are allocated to developing this competency. The English Philology Department faculty will undertake the following activities: a) preparing a CV and cover letter; b) preparing summaries/meeting minutes; and c) simulating job interviews, telephone conversations, and contextualized presentations.
