Access, admission and registration

Access is the set of requirements necessary to pursue the teachings university. Completion of these requirements is prior to admission to the courses to be taken.

Article 16 entitled “Access to official Master's degree courses” of Chapter IV “Official university Master's degree courses” of Royal Decree 1393/2007, of October 29, modified in its section 1 by article 9 of Royal Decree 861/2010, of July 2, states the following:

1. To access official Master's courses, it will be necessary to be in possession of an official Spanish university degree.

2. As this is a master's degree that enables people to practice a profession, foreign graduates who have the homologation or equivalence to the corresponding official Spanish degrees that give access to these postgraduate studies may access it (RD 967/2014 of November 21).

Students with non-validated foreign qualifications, whose studies have been completed at universities or higher education institutions outside of Spain, must have the following: Approval or Equivalence of the MECD of the foreign qualification with which you intend to access, before making the pre-registration request.

In addition, the University of La Laguna, in compliance with the provisions of Decree 168/2008, of July 22 (Official Gazette of the Canary Islands No. 154, of August 1), establishes that in order to access this master's degree, it will be an essential requirement to prove a B1 level of English. Admission is the allocation of places offered by the ULL to study official university courses among those who, meeting the access requirements indicated above (Graduate/Bachelor's degree and/or approved foreign qualification), have requested them.

Admission is carried out through the procedure established for this purpose in the ULL Regulations. The student must attach all official documents that prove the profile required for access, his/her academic record and his/her curriculum vitae, through which he/she will be evaluated for admission to the master's degree according to criteria of equality, merit and capacity.

The body responsible for admission that will evaluate the applications will be the Academic Committee of the degree, whose composition is determined in article 30 of the Regulations for Official Master's Degree Courses at the University of La LagunaArticle 31 of the aforementioned regulation states that the proposal for admission of students is one of the functions of the Academic Commission.

Admission is a mandatory prior procedure to enroll in Master's studies in Law. Both processes will be subject to the regulations applicable at this University and specifically to the following requirements:

a) Students interested in taking this programme must pre-register at the ULL within the deadline established by it.

b) As explained in the previous section, applicant students must be in possession of an official Spanish university degree of Bachelor or Graduate in Law or another degree issued by a higher education institution in the European Higher Education Area, which qualifies them in the country issuing the degree for access to postgraduate studies.

c) Graduates from educational systems outside the European Higher Education Area may also apply for admission without the need for their degrees to be recognised, provided that the university where they apply for enrolment verifies that they certify a level of training equivalent to the corresponding official Spanish university degrees and that they entitle them to access postgraduate studies in the country that issued the degree. Access via this route will not, under any circumstances, imply the recognition of the degree or its recognition for any purpose other than that of studying the Master's in Law.

d) If there is a greater number of applicants than the number of places offered, applications from students holding a Bachelor's or Licentiate's Degree in Law will be ordered mainly by academic record, in combination with other related official qualifications held by the applicants.

To proceed with the admission and evaluation of candidates, the following will be taken into account:

In case of equal grade in the file, the evaluation will proceed to
rest of the candidates' accredited merits.

Enrolment is the formal instrument through which one acquires the status of university student. Before enrolling, students who wish to take the Master's degree must meet the entry requirements and have obtained a place through the admission process.
