He Social Council The University of La Laguna has published the call for entries for its awards for the current fiscal year 2025 in today's Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC), Friday, June 6, whose presentation of candidacies will begin on Monday the 9th and will end at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025 and can be formalized through the procedure Designed for this purpose. The awards are divided into three categories: University-Society Relations, Sustainable Development, and Excellence in Doctoral Studies.
The first category, University-Society Relations, is aimed at legal entities that have developed projects between 2020 and December 2024 whose content promotes knowledge transfer, facilitates participation, or fosters relations between the University of La Laguna and society. To participate, applicants must submit a descriptive report of the project, specifying which Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) it promoted, its level of implementation, the team involved, the resources available, and its achievements.
In this category, three prizes will be awarded, corresponding to three different categories: micro-enterprises (with fewer than 10 employees); SMEs (between 10 and 250 employees); and other entities (large companies, public entities, foundations, non-university research centers, cultural entities, third sector organizations, etc.). The awards will consist of a plaque and a gift for each category.
The Sustainable Development category is geared towards social commitment initiatives promoted by any group within the university community, also carried out between January and December 2024, that contribute to the ecological transition or the reduction of the digital divide. Again, participation requires submitting a descriptive report linked to the SDGs, and the award will consist of a plaque and a gift.
Finally, the awards for excellence recognize the academic achievements of PhD graduates from the University of La Laguna. Those wishing to apply must submit documentation attesting to their merits, such as articles and publications, books, presentations, conferences, contracts, certificates, awards, patents, and agreements with institutions or companies that have resulted from the development of their doctoral thesis.
In this case, a maximum of five prizes of €2,000 each will be awarded, one for each of the five branches of knowledge: Arts and Humanities, Sciences, Health Sciences, Social Sciences and Law, and Engineering and Architecture. If the evaluation committee decides not to award a prize in one branch, it may award an additional prize in another, based on the highest score obtained according to the established evaluation criteria.
