The Social Council of the University of La Laguna held a teleconference session today, April 30, to make progress on various matters and approve several issues that affect the day-to-day operations of the institution.
One of these steps was the final approval of the 2025 financial statement, which has already been reviewed by the institution's governing body and the board of directors. The institution's manager, Lidia Pereira, presented the statement and also provided a summary of the General Foundation's annual accounts.
Pereira explained that the educational institution is increasingly monitoring its public spending, with greater traceability of academic activity and improved response and execution times. Furthermore, measures are being implemented to streamline and automate administrative processes.
He explained that the initial revenue forecast for the fiscal year was €174,452,000, and the final figure was €281,282,137. Regarding expenditure, the initial budget was €173,819,000, which was subsequently modified by €100,726,779, resulting in a final budget of €273,329,779.
Pereira also presented the annual accounts of the General Foundation, which have received a favorable audit report. There has been an increase in the Foundation's own activities, generating more revenue, which has resulted in slightly better results than the previous year, given that the initial budget was 16 million euros and the final expenditure exceeded 20 million. The General Foundation's activities focus on the main areas of training, innovation and technology transfer, employability, and commissioned projects.
Furthermore, the plenary session included a report on the progress of the working group developing a strategic plan for sponsorship and patronage of the academic institution. A document outlining the creation of a model office for this purpose was presented to the plenary, along with some key points for its implementation. The Rector's Office will now continue this process until its final establishment.
Likewise, the update of the economic collaboration of the Social Council to the Alumni association for the performance of activities on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of its constitution was discussed, as well as another contribution from this governing body to the Economics and Business Olympiad of the Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism of the University of La Laguna, for the 2026/27 call.
