Demonstration and technology transfer project to help companies develop new products and processes in the field of Macaronesian blue biotechnology (MACBIOBLUE)

MACBIOBLUE develops demonstration projects that help companies develop and implement technologies, products, and processes in the field of blue biotechnology (algae), which has great potential in the region and is a common priority area of the RIS3 and H2020 programs. The aim is to achieve future commercial exploitation of native microalgae species (Isochrysis galbana, Dunaliella tertiolecta, Dunaliella salina, Tetraselmis striata, and Navicola salinicola) and macroalgae (Lobophora variegata and Cystoseira abies marina), among others, whose industrial potential and applications have been evaluated in previous projects. This will be accomplished through collaborative work and technology transfer between research centers and companies.
