Broad-spectrum natural biocides derived from the endophytic fungus Stemphylium solani

Sciences

In agriculture, organisms harmful to vegetation pose a significant problem in relation to crop productivity. The present invention relates to a fermentation product obtained from endophytic fungi of the family Stemphyllum solani. This product, which may comprise a novel compound of formula (I) and a second known compound of formula (II), exhibits biocidal activity simultaneously against more than one category of harmful organisms affecting plants, preferably selected from insect pests, fungi, and nematodes. Both the fermentation product and the compounds included within the scope of the invention are used in the preparation of a broad-spectrum biocidal composition. Finally, the invention also includes the process for obtaining the fermentation product and the novel compound of formula (I).

Competitive advantage

It exhibits biocidal activity simultaneously against more than one category of harmful organisms.
