European Projects Office

The European Projects Office of the University of La Laguna, henceforth OPE-ULL, Its mission is to promote the participation of the University of La Laguna in European and international R&D&I programs, providing specialized support to research staff in all phases of the project cycle, from the identification of opportunities, preparation of proposals, formalization of the funding granted, management and economic justification of the funds.

The main services provided by OPE-ULL The following are for the research community:

Searching for and disseminating funding opportunities

Identification and analysis of European and international funding programs, such as Horizon Europe, ERA-NETs and the Interreg Program in its various forms, as well as other instruments of international cooperation in research and innovation.

The office continuously monitors calls for proposals and funding opportunities of particular interest to the research groups at ULL.

Coordination and generation of synergies in the ecosystem

Establishing and promoting contacts with other agents in the Canary Islands R&D&I ecosystem, with the aim of strengthening synergies and strategic collaborations in the preparation and execution of European and international projects.

The OPE-ULL promotes cooperation between the university, public administrations, companies and other relevant actors, contributing to the positioning of the ULL in the European and international sphere.

Specialized technical support in the preparation of proposals

Assisting research groups during the preparation of proposals, including:

  • Resolution of doubts related to the calls for proposals and their conditions of participation.
  • Support in preparing budgets and defining the financial structure of the project.
  • Advice on the participation requirements of the University of La Laguna and the different profiles of Teaching and Research Staff (PDI).
  • Support in administrative and technical procedures on the different electronic platforms for submitting applications.

Support in the formalization of awarded projects

Assistance in the procedures necessary for the formalization of the granting of projects before the funding authorities, guaranteeing the correct adaptation to the administrative, economic and contractual requirements established in each program.

This service facilitates the transition between the evaluation phase and the effective start of funded projects.

Economic management and justification

This service ensures compliance with the eligibility, implementation, and justification requirements established by the funding entities, contributing to efficient execution and minimizing economic and administrative risks for the University of La Laguna.

This service includes:

  • Continuous monitoring of budget execution and the degree of spending on projects.
  • Advising research staff on cost allocation, expense eligibility and applicable financial regulations.
  • Support in the preparation and presentation of economic reports and financial justifications, both interim and final.
  • Coordination with the economic and administrative services of the ULL.
  • Support in audit and economic review processes by the funding entities.

Since 2013, it has been provided through the General Foundation of the University of La Laguna (FGULL), by means of the corresponding commission from the University of La Laguna.
