The proper protection of inventions is a key element in enabling the transfer of research results to different socioeconomic sectors, promoting technological innovation and generating social and economic impact and benefits.In this regard, it is essential that research personnel do not disclose an invention by any means before communicating it to the OTC-ULL. This service offers specialized advice to reconcile scientific publication with the proper protection of research results.He Research Results Protection Area Its mission is to advise and support the research community of the University of La Laguna in the proper protection of the knowledge generated, ensuring its correct management and facilitating its subsequent transfer and valorization, through information and advice actions on knowledge protection.The main services it provides to the research community are:
Provision of information and specialized advice on the different forms of knowledge protection, taking into account the nature of the research results and the most appropriate strategies in each case (intellectual property, industrial property or other forms of protection).
Support in negotiations with companies and entities interested in the transfer of protected results, aimed at signing licensing agreements, assignment or other forms of exploitation, in coordination with the competent areas of the OTC.
Its objective is to increase the visibility of patents and other protected results from the ULL, to promote transfer opportunities to the productive sector and other interested parties.
Advice, application, processing and monitoring of patents and utility models, from the initial patentability assessment to the maintenance of granted titles, in coordination with the corresponding agents and bodies.
Management of the registration of intellectual property rights, including scientific, technical or artistic works, software, databases and other protectable results, in accordance with current regulations and the institutional procedures of the University of La Laguna.
Advice, application and management of trademarks, linked to research results, transfer initiatives or knowledge valorization activities, including their processing before the competent bodies and monitoring of their validity.
