Material that generates white light from ultraviolet radiation. The present invention discloses a transparent nanoglass-ceramic material doped with three rare-earth ions (Ce3+, Tb3+, and Eu3+) based on KYF4 nanocrystals dispersed in a SiO2 matrix, with the rare-earth ions incorporated within these nanocrystals. By taking advantage of the low phononic energies of nanocrystalline environments, which minimize non-radiative energy losses, and through efficient absorption, emission, and energy transfer processes between the rare-earth ions, white light is generated as a result of the addition of the three primary colors.
