Promoting the circular economy and renewable energies through the anaerobic digestion of organic waste and by-products in Macaronesia (AD4MAC)

AD4MAC aims to promote the circular economy and renewable energy production in the region's agri-food businesses and industries through the proper management of organic waste and byproducts, while simultaneously reducing environmental impact. AD4MAC proposes valorizing this waste and byproducts through anaerobic digestion for renewable energy production, and recycling nutrients for agriculture using digestate.

A series of actions are being established, including preliminary studies, experimental trials, demonstration facilities, and outreach activities, which will expand and improve the R&D capabilities of universities and demonstrate to companies the technological options available for waste utilization. This will enable an effective transfer of knowledge and technology to companies and industries in the region and the continuation and implementation of the project's results beyond its completion.
