Institutional cooperation to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of public health policy related to the introduction of tropical diseases in Macaronesia (AEDENET)

This collaborative project between public health administrations and support institutes in the Canary Islands and Cape Verde aims to improve the effectiveness and outcomes of public health policies for their citizens. To achieve this, joint collaboration and coordination agreements are established, action protocols tested in both the Canary Islands and Cape Verde are implemented, training is provided for professionals, and dissemination and awareness-raising tools and activities are carried out for both professionals and the general public. All of this falls within the framework of combating the introduction and spread of vector-borne tropical diseases (primarily mosquito-borne). Ultimately, the goal is to create a safer and more resilient Macaronesian region against this threat, which will undoubtedly increase in the coming years due to climate change and the globalization of transport and the movement of people and goods.
