Atlantic Network for the Sanitary Surveillance of Fishery and Aquaculture Products (RASPA)

This project proposes the creation of a health surveillance network for fishery and aquaculture products in the Macaronesian macro-region (Madeira, the Canary Islands, Mauritania, and Senegal) to help increase the safety, sanitary standards, and quality of products reaching our markets. This proposal aims to leverage the research, technology, and knowledge generated by existing centers in the region and enhance their capabilities through networking to prevent, detect, control, and, where possible, eliminate health threats to human health. To this end, the RASPA project focuses on studying the state of the art, strengthening capacities and knowledge, and planning the joint surveillance system, as well as transferring best practices to the fishery and aquaculture sector, thus contributing to raising the sanitary quality of products.
