The volcanic nature of the Azores, Madeira, the Canary Islands, and Cape Verde is and will always be a significant geotourism attraction due to the stunning landscapes of these volcanic territories, the opportunity to experience the power of nature firsthand, the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of their communities, and the safety of these destinations thanks to existing volcanic risk reduction programs. The objective of this proposal is to contribute to strengthening the conservation, protection, promotion, and development of the natural and cultural heritage linked to the volcanoes of Macaronesia through volcano tourism and to contribute to diversifying the tourism offerings of the four archipelagos. The creation of new tourism products will be a slow and gradual process, stemming from multidisciplinary knowledge, thus providing the product with a competitive edge in an increasingly competitive international tourism environment.
