The University of La Laguna's Publications Service has published the book "Nutrition in Physiological and Pathological States," as part of its University Teaching Materials collection, Medicine Series. The volume was coordinated by Professor Carlos Díaz Romero, Chair of Nutrition and Food Science at the University of La Laguna, and includes contributions from over twenty specialists in the field of Nutrition and Food Science from the Department of Chemical Engineering and Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of La Laguna, as well as clinical nutrition specialists from various fields, including medicine, endocrinology, pediatrics, gastroenterology, respiratory medicine, oncology, immunology, psychiatry, and intensive care.
Nutrition in Physiological and Pathological States complements the volume Fundamentals of Nutrition, published by this same department in 2012. It is structured in two parts. The first is dedicated to nutrition in physiological states, and the second to nutrition in pathological states. The first part is divided into two sections: 1) Life Cycle, with six chapters on each age (infant, preschooler, school-age child, adolescent, and elderly) and 2) Nutrition in Special Physiological States (pregnancy, lactation, athletes, and ergogenic aids). The second part comprises eighteen chapters that address nutrition in various situations, such as diet therapy, obesity, dyslipidemia, hypertension, hyperuricemia, kidney disease, digestive system diseases, lung disease, cancer, food allergies, eating disorders, enteral and parenteral nutrition, and food-drug interactions.
