Lights on a Gray Time: A Bibliographic Exhibition on Francoist Repression in the Canary Islands This is the title of the commemorative exhibition for Book Day 2013 that took place in the General and Humanities Library of the University of La Laguna.
This exhibition brings together a collection of works and documents (academic studies, memoirs, literary sources, photographs and other personal documents, materials and objects loaned by other institutions, audiovisual materials, and works of art) that aim to illuminate a veiled period, an imposed time of sadness and suffering, a time of silence. These were times when culture, literature, and art were affected by censorship, as was the clandestine press, which never saw the light of free publication. Finally, unlike other societies that have suffered similar totalitarian regimes, this is a period that for many years has remained shrouded in darkness, covered by the patina of oblivion and fear.
