Disability in the University Context Conference

Policies promoting equality and the principle of equal opportunities for all students have constituted a quality element of university institutions in the last decade, explicitly reflected in many Strategic Plans developed by them.
The legislation developed in our country, since the mid-1980s, to develop and apply this principle at the pre-university educational levels has demonstrated the effectiveness of these policies, producing a “demographic push” in higher education for students with disabilities in the following decade.
Aware of this reality, the University of La Laguna, in view of the increase in students with disabilities and the challenge of adapting our Institution to the guidelines of convergence to the European Higher Education Area, has set out to carry out actions to improve the educational response for all students and specifically for those with greater educational support needs.
These conferences are part of the activities planned by the University of La Laguna to define and develop these principles and to promote Education for Development. Therefore, they constitute an integrated and contextualized action within a framework of more ambitious initiatives that will serve as a benchmark for the full development of the aims defined for this Institution by its Statutes.
