Functions of the Faculty Board

In accordance with the University Statutes, the Board of this Faculty is responsible for the following functions:

  • To define and approve the Center's policy of action, both in terms of teaching and research, and in terms of its administrative and economic regime.
  • To approve the teaching organization plans of the Center and to propose and report the modification of its study plans.
  • Approve the distribution of funds allocated to the Center charged to the University Budgets.
  • To supervise and be aware of the performance of the collegiate and individual governing bodies of the Center and its services, in accordance with the provisions of the second section of this article.
  • To perform any other functions assigned to him by the higher governing bodies of the university or recognized by current regulations…
  • And, in general, the other functions provided for the collegiate bodies in article 139 of the University Statutes.

Composition

A representation of the different sectors that make up the center, whose composition will be adjusted to the following percentages:

The Dean's Team:

  • The dean will preside; the vice-deans; the center's secretary, who will be its secretary; and the center's administrator.

A 51% percent consisting of:

  • The tenured teaching staff who are listed in the teaching program of the center, and who carry out at least 25% of their teaching activity in the same.
  • The directors of those departments that teach at least 25% of their teaching load at the center and are civil servants of the university teaching bodies.
  • The remaining civil servant teaching staff needed to complete the 51% will be selected from among those who provide services at the center.

A 9% percent made up of:

  • The directors of those departments that teach at least 25% of their teaching load at the center and are contracted teachers.
  • The rest of the contracted teaching staff necessary to complete the 9% by choosing from those listed in the teaching program of the center, and who develop at least 25% of their teaching activity in the same.

In any case, all areas of knowledge taught at the center must be represented. Department heads who teach at the center but are not members of the Center's Governing Board will have the right to be heard at Center meetings where matters relating to the subjects they teach are discussed.

30% percent of the students enrolled in the various cycles at the Center.

A 10% of the administrative and service staff who provide their services in the center and in the departments of the Faculty.

In the event that the students and/or the administrative and service staff do not fully fill the positions that correspond to them in the School Board, these positions will be assigned to the contracted teaching staff sector.

In the event that the contracted teaching staff and the administrative and service staff do not fully cover the positions that correspond to them in the Center Board, these positions will be assigned to the students.

The Faculty Board will invite the medical directors of the University Hospitals to its sessions, who will have a voice but not a vote.

Faculty Committee on Gender Equality Policies

The Gender Equality Unit at the University of La Laguna (ULL) has representatives in the various faculties, and some have established specific committees to promote the dissemination of activities, regulations, and awareness-raising initiatives related to gender equality. This particular committee was created in March 2022.
