Routes, access requirements and recommended entry profile

The recommended profile for students interested in the Doctoral Program includes holding: a) an official Spanish Bachelor's degree in one of the branches of Health Sciences (Medicine, Psychology, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine, Nursing, and Physiotherapy), Sciences (Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Economics and Business Administration), or Engineering (Telecommunications Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Chemical Engineering), and b) an official Research Master's degree related to the aforementioned degrees. Students who meet the requirements set forth in Royal Decree 99/2011, of January 28, and in the Regulations on Official Doctoral Studies of the University of La Laguna, which govern doctoral studies, are also eligible for admission.

Channels for disseminating information about the program and enrollment process.

The management of the doctoral programs of the University of La Laguna is the responsibility of the Doctoral and Postgraduate SchoolIn addition to management (pre-registration, enrolment, file management, etc.), the Doctoral School is responsible for disseminating the ULL's doctoral programmes. It has the necessary human and technical resources to carry out these responsibilities.

From this first link you can access the list of regulations of application to these teachings, information on the offer of Doctoral Programs, access to the request for appointment only for in-person information or procedures related to pre-registration and registration, as well as other relevant information on doctoral studies, pre-registration and registration procedures, faculty, academic committees, lines of research that make up each program, training activities, statistics, pre-registration and registration calendars for each course, entry requirements, calls, application forms and forms for access, registration, etc. This website is the main means of disseminating and displaying doctoral programs at the ULL for potential students. It is also worth noting that the ULL has begun disseminating information a couple of years ago through various social networks (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn), which includes news regarding degrees, also offering the option of subscribing to an RSS feed.

Information about the Doctoral Program is also made visible through: a) the websites and notice boards of the research institutes affiliated with the ULL and the research units of the two university hospitals in Tenerife, and b) the organization of talks and seminars aimed at students in the final year of the degrees mentioned in the previous section and of the official master's degrees in force and in progress (approved by ANECA), whose profile fits this doctoral program:

Direct communication with interested parties prior to enrollment is conducted through the administrative staff of the Postgraduate Committee and the academic directors of each program. Contact information for the members of the academic committees and the heads of research lines is available on the website and through the staff of the Postgraduate Committee. Finally, once admitted, the assigned tutor will provide individualized support and guidance to the candidate, taking into account their preferences and experience in the different lines and techniques, with the aim of contributing to their integration into the program. Candidates may submit questions, suggestions, or complaints through the Academic Committee, the Doctoral Committee, or through the channels established through the ULL's Internal Quality Assurance System.

Admission requirements

Institutional access requirements

1. In general, to access the doctoral program in Health Sciences it will be necessary to hold an official Spanish Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in the branch of Health Sciences (Medicine, Psychology, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine, Food Science and Technology, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Nursing or Physiotherapy) or in one of the field of Life Sciences (Biology, Biotechnology, Physics, Chemistry or Biochemistry), and a University Master's degree in disciplines directly related to Health Sciences.

2. Likewise, those who are in any of the following situations may access:

a) Be in possession of an official Spanish university degree, or from another country belonging to the European Higher Education Area in one of the branches of Health Sciences or Life Sciences mentioned in the previous section, which qualifies for access to a Master's degree in accordance with the provisions of Royal Decree 822/2021 and have passed a minimum of 300 ECTS credits in the set of official university studies, of which at least 60 must be at Master's level in disciplines directly related to Health Sciences.

b) Hold an official Spanish Graduate degree in one of the branches of Health Sciences or Life Sciences mentioned in section 1, the duration of which, in accordance with Community law, is at least 300 ECTS credits.

c) University graduates who, after obtaining a training place in the corresponding entrance exam for specialized healthcare training places, have successfully completed at least two years of training in a program leading to an official degree in one of the Health Sciences specialties.

d) Be in possession of a degree obtained in accordance with foreign educational systems, without the need for its homologation, after verification by the university that it accredits a level of training equivalent to that of the official Spanish Master's degree in a branch of Health Sciences or Life Sciences mentioned in the
paragraph 1, and which authorizes access to doctoral studies in the country issuing the degree. This admission will not, under any circumstances, imply the recognition of the previous degree held by the interested party or its recognition for purposes other than access to doctoral studies.

e) Be in possession of another Spanish Doctorate degree obtained in accordance with previous university regulations.

f) Doctoral students who have begun their doctoral studies in a program in the branch of Health Sciences in accordance with Royal Decree 1393/2007.

g) Graduates in Health Sciences or Life Sciences mentioned in section 1, who are in possession of the Diploma of Advanced Studies, obtained in accordance with the provisions of Royal Decree 778/1998, of April 30, or have achieved the research sufficiency regulated in Royal Decree 185/1985, of January 23.

h) Taking into account the subject matter of any of the lines of research that make up the program, students who meet the general requirements for access to a doctoral program according to RD 99/2011 may be admitted, but whose undergraduate training, or equivalent, comes from other branches of Science (Mathematics, Economics and Business) or Engineering (Telecommunications Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering and Chemical Engineering), and who hold a Master's degree related to Health Sciences.

The recommended profile for students interested in the Doctoral Program includes being in possession of: a) an official Spanish Bachelor's degree in one of the branches of Health Sciences (Medicine, Psychology, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine, Nursing and Physiotherapy), Sciences (Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Economics and Business Sciences) or Engineering (Telecommunications Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering and Chemical Engineering) and b) an official Research Master's degree related to the aforementioned degrees. Students who meet the requirements set out in article 6 of RD99/2011, of January 28, and article 5 of the Regulations of Official Doctoral Studies of the University of Madrid will also be able to access the program.

In cases a), b) and d) included in said articles, the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program will verify that the degree provided complies with the list of degrees mentioned in this section.

Admission criteria

As established in Article 6 of the ULL Doctoral Regulations, the academic committee may establish criteria for the selection and admission of students. In the case of this program, the following criteria will be applied to evaluate applications:

1. Average grade of the academic record, including grades from undergraduate or master's degrees (in cases where this is a requirement for access to the program): up to a maximum of 52%.

2. Adequacy of the undergraduate and specific postgraduate training to the applicant's preferred line of research: up to a maximum of 13%

3. Accreditation of a higher level of English than required (B1): up to level B2, maximum 5%.

4. Having enjoyed collaboration or predoctoral scholarships, awards: up to 10%

5. Internships at other national or international research centers; also experience collaborating on research activities (participation in a collective article, participation in conferences or scientific dissemination events, collaboration on a research team): up to 10%.

6. Additional undergraduate, postgraduate or specialized training in the field of arts and humanities: up to 10%.

Body in charge of the admission process

The body responsible for the admissions process is the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program in Arts and Humanities at the University of La Laguna.

Training supplements

The ULL Doctoral Regulations establish that admission to doctoral programs may include specific additional training requirements, in line with the admission profiles established for the corresponding doctoral program. These specific additional training requirements will be considered doctoral-level training for the purposes of public fees and the awarding of scholarships and grants.

Depending on the student's entry profile, the academic committee will decide which training complements the student must take, taking into account the following training complement itineraries: Students oriented towards Research Line 1 (Philological, Literary and Cultural Studies) should preferably acquire skills in methodological training content in Cultural Studies, Conservation and Restoration, Artistic Creation, Art Theory, Art History, Design, Literary Studies and/or Philological Studies.

Students oriented towards Research Line 2 (Linguistic Studies) must acquire skills in linguistic research methods.

The competencies and content of the supplements for these pathways may correspond to those of official ULL master's degree subjects that provide access to this program, or methodological or specialization subjects from one of the Bachelor's degrees related to the Program's lines of research.
