Admission systems and procedures for students with specific educational needs arising from disabilities
The University of La Laguna, through the Vice-Rectorate for Students and Assistance Services, has been developing a Program for the Care of Students with Disabilities (PAED) since 1999. The objective of this program is to guarantee equal opportunities and promote the integration of students with specific educational support needs. The PAED, through direct and personalized attention, promotes specific measures for the comprehensive development of these students in an open and accessible environment. The PAED maintains a stable support structure through Calls Periodic. Through personal interviews, needs are identified and individual action plans are drawn up, teachers are informed about difficulties and advice and technical support are offered. Three programmes are currently in place: one to support students with hearing impairments (sign language), another on transport for students with mobility impairments and another on adaptation of the educational environment.
Part-time students. Admission criteria and procedures. Conditions for changing the modality
Taking into account the programs of origin and the interest of the program for students in specialized health training and with assistance work, it is estimated that 30%-40% of students will opt for part-time dedication. This preference must be stated in the application for admission, or once admitted, when any of the circumstances mentioned below occur and that allow the recognition of this condition, without prejudice to the Permanence Rules established by the ULL:
The recognition of part-time student status will be reviewed and ratified annually. In any case, the student may request a change in the type of dedication during the development of the Doctoral Program. Likewise, students who lose the status for which they were granted part-time dedication during the development of the program will automatically become full-time students.
The training complements will be organized in the form of ECTS credits, up to a maximum of 20. The content of these complements will correspond to that of the subjects of the different official ULL master's degrees that give access to this program:
The number of credits and subjects to be taken by each student will depend on the previous training and the requirements of the line of research they are joining.
Without prejudice to what the Academic Committee deems appropriate in each particular case, the following complementary training itineraries are established.
The assessment of the use and learning results of the training complements will be carried out on the one hand with an exam like any subject in the master's degrees, and on the other, with a summary of the contents of each subject taken, recorded in the personalized record of activities.
