The university also has an Information and Orientation Service (IOS), which is the office dedicated to providing information, advice, and guidance to prospective students on matters related to their education and university life, as well as directing them to the appropriate offices with any more specific requests. Welcome and orientation of new arrivals
The Doctoral School will offer a welcome day for new students, as well as information sessions on specific topics of interest. All students are also enrolled in a virtual classroom for notifications and a communication channel.Students will also attend a program presentation session led by the coordinator of the University of La Laguna's academic committee and will be included in a virtual classroom for the program.In the Doctoral School Website There are several links with information on all the necessary procedures for completing a doctoral thesis, as well as the related forms. Of particular importance for new students may be the page containing all the regulations for doctoral studies.
Internal Quality Assurance Service of the University of La Laguna
As a guarantee of the quality of teaching, its improvement, and the protection of the rights of students and faculty, the degree program is governed by specific regulations regarding dissemination mechanisms within the University of La Laguna's Internal Quality Assurance System.
The specific requirements for the Doctoral Program are to have a good command of Spanish and to possess a B1 level of English or the equivalent

Admission profile
Preference will be given to students who have completed an official master's degree in any of the branches of Social Sciences. However, the admission of students from other fields of study will be considered, provided they demonstrate the ability and interest to pursue their doctorate in this program. In these cases, potential applications will be evaluated by the Academic Committee, which will indicate any additional training it deems necessary for the applicant's readiness for the program.
Students with specific educational support needs
In compliance with Royal Decree 99/2011, of January 28, regulating official doctoral programs, a specific program is in place to assist students with specific educational support needs to promote their educational and social integration. The Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program will proceed to evaluate each of the applications submitted according to the following scoring criteria:
Body in charge of the admission process.
The body responsible for the admissions process is the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program in Law at the University of La Laguna.
The supplementary training must be completed during the initial period of thesis development, within a maximum of one academic year (Art. 7.2 of Royal Decree 576/2023). For the purposes of public fees and the awarding of scholarships and grants, these specific supplementary training courses will be considered doctoral-level training. Doctoral candidates admitted to the program within the recommended access profile will not be required to complete supplementary training. Doctoral candidates with the additional access profile will have to complete the following supplementary training courses within the aforementioned deadlines:
When 45 ECTS credits are not reached in the training of Social Sciences (Economics and Society), considering their master's degree of origin, the Academic Commission will require, as Training Supplements, the obtaining of the remaining ECTS credits up to that number, by taking the training supplements of research in social sciences.
The Supplementary Training for each student will be established by the Academic Commission based on their research character and their suitability to the profile of the future research that is intended to be carried out (suitability that must be accredited by the positive report of the doctoral thesis tutor).
Therefore, students who, despite having prior training in Social Sciences, do not demonstrate sufficient training in introductory research activities must undertake supplementary training. This training will consist of a maximum of 6 ECTS credits in methodological subjects.
