Preparation for professional practise

The Interuniversity Master's Degree in Training of Teaching Staff of Compulsory Secondary Education and Baccalaureate, Professional Training and Language Teaching by the Universities of La Laguna and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, qualifies for the exercise of professional activities, according to Order EDU / 3498/2011, of December 16, amending Order ECI / 3858/2007, of December 27, which establishes the requirements for the verification of the official university degrees that qualify for the exercise of the professions of Professor of Education Secondary Compulsory and Baccalaureate, Vocational Training and Language Teaching

  • Design and implement formal and non-formal activities that help to make the school a place of participation and culture in its environment; participate in the assessment, investigation and innovation in the teaching-learning processes
  • Know the curricular contents of the subjects concerning the pertinent teaching specialisation
  • Know the skills necessary to foster learning and harmony in the classroom and tackle problems of discipline and conflict resolution
  • Specify the curriculum that is to be implemented in a teaching school, taking part in its collective planning; develop and apply didactic methods for both groups and individuals, adapted to the diversity of the student body
  • Plan, implement and assess the teaching-learning process, promoting processes that facilitate the acquisition of characteristic skills of the respective teachings
  • Know and analyse the historical characteristics of the teaching profession and its current situation
  • This Master builds capacities and complies with Organic Act 2/2006, 3rd May, on Education (LOE, as it is known in Spanish) that establishes that offering teaching at secondary level requires post-graduate pedagogical and didactic training, apart from the qualification of a Bachelor Degree, Engineer or Architect, or equivalent degree
    Specific skills
    • Know the characteristics of students, their social contexts, motivations and possible dysfunctions that affect learning
    • Identify and plan the resolution of educational situations that affect students with different capabilities and different learning rhythms
    • Know the processes of interaction and communication in the classroom and in the school, tackle and resolve possible problems
    • Know the historic development of the education system and the teaching profession in Spain
    • Know and apply information, tutorials and academic and professional orientation resources and strategies
    • Promote emotional education actions, actions regarding values and citizenship training
    • Know the historic development of the family, its different kinds and the impact of the family context on education and acquire social skills in family relations and orientation
    • Know the formative and cultural value of the subjects of the specialisation and the contents studied in the respective teachings
    • Know the theoretical and practical developments of teaching-learning in the corresponding subjects
    • Transform curriculums into activity and work programmes and elaborate educational materials, applying innovative proposals
    • Know assessment strategies and techniques and understand assessment as a regulation instrument to stimulate effort
    • Identify teaching-learning-related problems in the subjects of the specialisation and pose alternatives and solutions
    • Know and apply basic research and educational assessment methodologies and techniques and be able to design and implement research, innovation and assessment projects
    • Accredit a good command of oral and written expression in teaching practise
    • A command of the social skills and abilities necessary to foster a climate that will facilitate learning and harmony
