  • To provide an overview of the scientific knowledge needed to understand, interpret, analyze and explain concepts in the field Speech-Language Pathology. Students will learn the basic skills and competencies needed to interact with and assess individuals of all age groups for the purpose of improving people’s quality of life, health and well-being. These studies include, amongst other things, the basic concepts of Psychology, Biology, Linguistics, Education, and speech-language approaches used with individuals of all age groups.
  • Speech-Language Pathologist
    The degree in Speech-Language Pathology will teach the following transversal competencies:

    • How to develop professional competencies, skills and knowledge and how to keep them up to date

In fitting with the professional profile of a speech-language pathologist, future students undertaking this degree should have a clear idea of their future vocation in speech therapy. You should be interested in research, both basic and applied. For these reasons, students wishing to become professional Speech-Language Pathologists and who choose to undertake this degree must show and interest in the following:
  • In addition, you should be well-spoken and have good written skills
  • In terms of motivation, it is important to be willing to work well with others or as part of a team, be capable of handling confrontation or intervening in more complex situations in a methodical and well-planned manner in order to resolve biopsychosocial issues that form part of Speech-Language Pathology
  • The methodologies and techniques used in scientific research in the field of Speech-Language Pathology, and the disengagement of this field with pseudosciences that lack genuine scholarship and critical thought
  • The strategies and methods that are used for intervention in Speech-Language Pathology to attempt to resolve a diverse range of problems affecting individuals and groups in modern society
  • Scientific findings in the field of Speech-Language Pathology, both in basic and applied research
