Mobility

Actions regarding student mobility are centralized at the University of La Laguna in:

The ORI centralizes all planning and management of exchange student mobility.

It holds the Extended Erasmus University Charter granted in 2007 for the period 2007-2013, which gives it the right to participate in a new Erasmus action, student mobility for internships, which opens up the possibility for future students of the degree to carry out internships in those European countries with which collaboration agreements are signed.
Both the ORI and the Scholarship Office have established a complete protocol of action that results in easy access to all the information required by students for their registration, as well as the planning, monitoring and support of all mobility actions they carry out.

For the Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, the Faculty of Pharmacy will have:

  • National Mobility Coordinator
  • Coordinator for International Mobility who will coordinate:
    • ERASMUS Coordinator
    • EIBES Coordinator
    • Head of Corporate Internships

The ORI and the Scholarship Office will inform students through their websites about the existence of the different mobility programs, the host university and degree, the number of places offered, the requirements to be eligible for one of the mobility places offered, financial aid, etc.

Once the student has been selected and accepts the mobility grant, the ORI/Scholarship Office manages the documentation to be submitted to the host University and, together with the corresponding Coordinator, resolves any incidents that may arise.

Once the stay has ended, participating students will see their completed subjects recognised, in accordance with current regulations, according to the assessment assigned by the host university.

Mobility agreements for students from other universities are established by the ORI/Scholarship Office. The reception of incoming students will be carried out by the ORI and by the Mobility Coordinator for international and national programs, respectively.

The registration, orientation and information of these students is carried out jointly by the ORI, the Mobility Coordinators and the Faculty Secretary, who will also be responsible for resolving any incidents that arise during the student's stay at the ULL. These incidents, if they occur, will be taken into account to improve the mobility programs.

Finally, it is worth highlighting that there is at the University of La Laguna the University Association of International Relations (AURI), whose main objective is to help with training, serve as a cultural link, provide information, help as much as possible during the stay and organize activities for exchange students from abroad, as well as providing information to students from the University of La Laguna who are preparing to study abroad. Among the activities carried out we highlight: visits to the different museums on the island and to those municipalities on the island of tourist interest and/or of interest due to their history, teaching of the history, relevance, traditions, customs and peculiarities of the Canary Islands, and in particular of Tenerife, excursions through the different areas of scenic interest on the island and different recreational activities (international cooking competitions, exhibition of the customs and peculiarities of the country of origin of each student or group of students, screening of videos, parties and meetings).

We could conclude that, among the objectives of the mobility plan, is that students who participate in the Mobility Programs can benefit from the social and cultural experience, improve their CV for entering the workforce, etc. In addition, the participation of students in these programs strengthens their capacity for communication, cooperation, adaptation and understanding of other cultures.

Furthermore, the Strategic Plan of the University of La Laguna contains several initiatives for external projection aimed at achieving a valuable and demanding goal at the end of the strategic process: to convert the University of La Laguna into the European University of the Atlantic, a prestigious centre, a source of pride and a symbol of the Canary Islands and recognised internationally for the quality of its teaching services and the projection of its researchers and groups with the greatest potential. In this sense, within the teaching services, the Strategic Plan contemplates the promotion of the exchange of students from the ULL with European universities, generating support and information networks that facilitate student mobility.

To this end, a specific call for scholarships will be created for exchange students at European universities in exchange for the provision of information and dissemination services among students about exchange programmes. The aim is to ensure that at the end of the period at least 5% of new students enrolled in undergraduate programmes have completed an exchange period at a European university before finishing their degree.
