Lines of research

  • Effects of mineral metabolism disorders on the development of diabetes. Determination of the effects derived from alterations in phosphorus metabolism and its regulators on the functionality of the pancreatic beta cell.
  • Inflammatory mechanisms mediated by alterations in the FGF23/Klotho system in patients with kidney disease. Investigate the pro-inflammatory processes associated with the increase in levels of fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23) and the decrease in those of its co-receptor Klotho in patients with chronic kidney disease.
  • Determination of the possible dual effect of FGF23 on the activation of the Ras/Raf/MAPK and CN/NFAT pathways in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. Investigate the possible role of FGF23 in the activation of signaling pathways related to PDAC development.
