According to the current internal regulations, the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) is composed of at least three internationally recognized scientists in the field of Biomedicine who have no direct affiliation with the University of La Laguna (ULL) or other higher education or research institutions in the Canary Islands. In July 2026, coinciding with the institute's 20th anniversary, the Scientific Advisory Committee was renewed. The new SAC is composed of:

• Clara Álvarez Villamarín (Medical specialist in Endocrinology, Professor of Physiology, University of Santiago de Compostela; leading researcher of a group at the Singular Center for Research in Molecular Medicine and Chronic Diseases, CiMUS, Santiago de Compostela)
• Rafael Fernández Chacón (Professor of Physiology, University of Seville; Director of the Institute of Biomedicine of Seville, IBiS)
• Luis A. Pardo Fernández (Research Group Leader, Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences, Göttingen, Germany; Adjunct Professor, University of Göttingen, Germany)
• Gloria González Aseguinolaza (Director of the Gene Therapy Program, Center for Applied Medical Research, CIMA, Pamplona)
• Elisa Martí Gorostiza (Research Professor at the CSIC; Director of the Institute of Molecular Biology of Barcelona, IBMB-CSIC)
• Alberto Ortiz Arduán (Professor of Medicine, Autonomous University of Madrid; Head of the Nephrology Department, Jiménez Díaz University Hospital Foundation)
