Institute of Biomedical Technologies
According to the current internal regulations, the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) is composed of at least three internationally recognized scientists in the field of Biomedicine who have no direct affiliation with the University of La Laguna (ULL) or other higher education or research institutions in the Canary Islands. Renewed at the end of 2018, the current SAC is composed of the following researchers:
- Manuel Carreiras Valiña (Director of the Basque Centre for Cognition, Brain and Language, San Sebastián)
- Brian Harvey (Professor Emeritus, Department of Molecular Medicine, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dublin, Ireland)
- Mads Hornum (Professor and Clinical Researcher of Nephrology, University of Copenhagen, Denmark)
- Juan Carlos Izpisúa Belmonte (Professor at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, La Jolla, California, USA)
- María Isabel Loza García (Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology, University of Santiago de Compostela)
- Elisa Martí Gorostiza (Research Professor at the Institute of Molecular Biology of Barcelona, CSIC, Barcelona)
This committee conducted its latest evaluation of the institute in October 2019, highlighting the achievements of the ITB in recent years, with special mention of the development of new interactions between basic and clinical groups and the Institute's successes in attracting funding and international collaborations.
