Canarian Stick Fighting is a combat system inherited from the ancient Canarians (Guanches), who used the garrote (a large, sturdy stick) as both weapon and shield. With its characteristic central grip, it combines the systematic use of both ends of the stick with hand and foot strikes, and spectacular takedowns. This genuinely Canarian martial tradition, after centuries of persecution and clandestine transmission, is recognized by the Canarian Government, which created the Canarian Stick Fighting Federation. The Federation officially represents the discipline and holds titles such as Gold Medal at the World Martial Arts Championship, European Champion in Weapons Techniques, Spanish Champion in Self-Defense and Musical Forms with Weapons, as well as numerous international awards and recognitions.
