The University of La Laguna Table Tennis Club was founded in 1993 with the support of the University of La Laguna. Since then, it has participated in various official national competitions. Currently, the club has two teams, one in the Second Division B and the other in the Third Division. The team's training and competition venues are located at the University's sports facilities. The Third Division competition is held at the provincial level, featuring teams from the north, the Santa Cruz/Laguna area, the south of the island, La Gomera, and El Hierro. The Second Division competition is held at the regional level, with teams from Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Palma, and Fuerteventura. The table tennis team draws its players from the university's table tennis program. This program has been offered by the University's Sports Service for over two decades and shares facilities with the federated team. Each year, the federated teams and the sports school have approximately 25 members. During the 2021/2022 season, the Second Division B team successfully maintained its position in the division, while the Third Division team won the league championship. Contributions from team members, along with grants received from the La Laguna City Council's Sports Authority and the Regional Government's Directorate General of Sports, are currently the club's main source of funding. These contributions cover referee fees, training equipment, federation registration fees, and other expenses.
