Customizable intelligent transport systems to improve the efficiency and sustainability of multimodal freight transport on the island
This project aims to acquire, combine, configure, and employ knowledge and techniques to develop new processes and services for planning, eco-efficient management, and dynamic optimization of the operational processes of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the logistics and transportation sector on the island of Tenerife. Specifically, the new company will focus on the production and marketing of customizable, intelligent transportation systems based on cloud computing. These systems will integrate data analysis techniques, advanced optimization models, and secure mobile communications management to improve the efficiency and sustainability of multimodal freight transport on the island. Thus, the specific objectives of the project are (I) to extract and process information using advanced Big Data techniques from data sources of transport and logistics companies, (ii) to incorporate the latest advances in optimization methods that allow for improved allocation and reassignment of routes and services, (iii) to monitor the position, speed and consumption of vehicle fleets through the implementation of secure communications in mobile applications, (iv) to develop the intelligent transport system using a cloud computing architecture, (v) to develop solutions based on georeferencing technologies that allow for the location of goods and (vi) to implement a performance reporting system.
