Optimization of the biodiesel production process from the energy crop of Millettia. Energy valorization of waste.
Optimization of the biodiesel production process from the energy crop of Millettia. Energy valorization of waste.
The project aims to combine the need for alternative energy sources with the necessary valorization of waste generated from various biomass sources and the energy production processes. On the one hand, it seeks to produce biodiesel from energy crops as a pilot project for fragmented territories. Specifically, it aims to link the cultivation of Millettia with biodiesel production, optimizing the production process and relating energy output to energy consumption. The goal is to use the overall biodiesel production process as a pilot model for similar initiatives in other fragmented territories. On the other hand, the project aims to gain a better understanding of agricultural and forestry waste management on the island (quantifying waste, forecasting for the coming years, etc.) in order to utilize it as a raw material for energy production (digestion of agricultural and forestry waste, slurry, and sludge; gasification; valorization of biodiesel production waste, etc.). The aim of all this is to increase the availability of renewable energies for less energy dependence on foreign sources, according to the concept of a circular economy (sustainable transport: Biodiesel and BioDME; Clean energies: Biogas, Biomethane and BioDME).
