Materials Science and Technology Area (TM)

A multidisciplinary field encompassing various areas of science and engineering focused on the macroscopic physical properties of materials (structure-property relationships and the design of specific properties) for their application in works, machines, or products needed or required by society. It includes elements of chemistry and physics, chemical, mechanical, civil, and electrical engineering, as well as nanoscience and nanotechnology related to nanostructures and nanomaterials. Materials for energy, electrical, magnetic, structural, polymer and biomaterials, ceramics, construction, optical, and photonic applications are all relevant.
