Area of Electronic and Communications Technology (COM)

It has a multidisciplinary character and a clear technological orientation, focused on applied research for the development of new products, systems, and services. It encompasses all levels of electronic systems related to signal transmission and processing, telecommunications, and information processing. At the lower levels: the development of electronic devices and integrated circuits for communications applications, analog and digital signal processing for telecommunications systems, electromagnetic components (both guided and radio, such as antennas), and radio frequency and microwave subsystems for radiocommunication systems. At the higher levels: complex modulation and signal multiplexing systems, and telematics engineering in the development of telecommunications and information processing systems, including software development and communications protocols.
