This comprehensive work constitutes the first research of its kind focused on the Canary Islands. It analyzes both the social market and non-market economies, facilitating a fairly accurate diagnosis of the current situation. Furthermore, it allows for comparisons between our autonomous community and others, as it adopts the methodology that CIRIEC-Spain has been using in similar studies.
It has been developed by researchers from the two Canary Island universities with the aim of providing the different public administrations (local, island and regional) with a tool that will help them to differentiate social economy entities, understand their strengths and weaknesses; and thus be able to establish public policies aimed at promoting their maintenance and expansion as generators of decent, resilient and sustainable employment.
