Synopsis
The company was founded in 1981, 22 years ago. It was within the University of La Laguna, where a group of university students and professors felt the need to create a theater company that would embrace the students' theatrical interests, but from a professional and independent perspective.
Since then, many people have participated in the project, but only a few have provided it with stability and, above all, the professionalism and independence it sought. This is evidenced by the various theatrical experiences undertaken. Currently, the core of the group consists of some of the students who started more than two decades ago and who long ago were no longer satisfied with experience in the amateur scene. This is why TROYSTEATRO now has two distinct branches: the professional one (Troysteatro, SL) and the university one (University Cultural Association for the Development and Promotion of Theatre).
In short, at the university, we promote rigorous and professional dramatic research and theatre, offering a wide range of programs, from theory to practice, from performance to teaching, from amateur to professional theatre. From dramatic productions to storytelling sessions and reading promotion, everything is always at the service of society and the needs of the audience.
This trajectory makes Troysteatro one of the most established and historically significant theater groups in the islands. Their participation in national and international festivals is a testament to this.

The Council is made up of retired professors from the University of La Laguna who have taught at the Faculty of Education. It is chaired by the Dean or their designee.
All effects are now organically linked to said Faculty. The Council must adhere to the regulations of the Faculty of Education that are applicable to it and to the Statutes of the University of La Laguna.
Goals
The Council was created with a vocation for encounter, participation and service, in which, through critical reflection, the following objectives are sought:
The Museum of Education recreates the context in which teaching was practiced in the last century. Located in a room of the Central Building of the University of La Laguna, dating from the mid-20th century, it places visitors inside two classrooms: one from 1940-1950 and another from 1970-1980. These classrooms display the furniture and materials used for teaching during those decades; in addition, administrative documents from the period, photographs, and panels explaining the conditions under which teachers worked are exhibited.
Since 1999, the Vice-Rectorate for University Extension has incorporated it into its organizational structure as a Cultural Center. The Museum has also received support from the General Directorate of Historical Heritage of the Government of the Canary Islands.
Visit the permanent exhibition from Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 13:00 (Central Building, 1st floor next to the cafeteria stairs).
