Powers of the Faculty Board

The Faculty Board is the highest representative and governing body of the
The Faculty has its own powers in matters of organization, coordination, and management. It is made up of the Dean's Office and representatives from the faculty, students, and administrative and service staff that comprise the Faculty.

Their responsibilities include:

  1. Prepare the internal regulations of the Faculty.
  2. To plan, organize and control the teachings that must be given for obtaining the corresponding degrees.
  3. To develop, approve or endorse, within their competence, the study plans and academic organization.
  4. To coordinate teaching activities related to the Faculty.
  5. Supervise, approve and publish the teaching guides for the subjects taught in the Faculty and report on them, following the regulations established by the Governing Council.
  6. Supervise compliance with the teaching and tutoring of the subjects that correspond to them.
  7. Maintain the services and teaching support equipment that have been entrusted to them.
  8. Carry out cultural and complementary training activities related to their respective professional fields.
  9. Approve the distribution of the funds that have been allocated to them from the University's budgets and be informed of the progress of the execution of their budget, at least once every quarter.
  10. To supervise and understand the performance of the collegiate or individual governing bodies of the Faculty and its services.
  11. To perform any other functions assigned to him by the higher governing bodies of the university or recognized by current regulations.
  12. The supervisory function of the Faculty Board, established in point j) of the previous section, shall be exercised as follows:
  13. The Dean's Office must report on its management and that of its team, at least three times during the academic year or at the request of at least 25% of the members of the Faculty Board.
  14. The people who hold the presidency of the Commissions regulated by this Regulation must give an account of their management when requested by the Board of the Faculty by simple majority, at least once per academic year.
  15. For the raising of a question of confidence or the presentation of a motion of censure, the provisions of articles 38 and 39 of the Statutes of the University of La Laguna shall apply.

The Faculty of Education has a space in the Collaborative Environment of the Virtual Campus where all documentation related to the Faculty Board can be consulted (minutes, approved documents and information).

Composition

In accordance with Chapter I, Article 11 of the Internal Regulations of the Faculty of Education, the Faculty Board will be chaired by the dean, and will be composed of two hundred members, who will be the following:

  1. The Faculty Board will consist of one hundred and twenty members. It will include the Dean, who will serve as Chair, the Vice-Deans, and the Faculty Secretary, who will serve as the Board's Secretary. The Faculty Administrator will also be a member. The remaining members will represent the various sectors of the Faculty, with the composition determined by the following percentages:
    1. Fifty-one percent of representatives of the teaching and research staff with permanent ties to the University who are listed in the teaching program of the Faculty and who have been assigned at least 6 ECTS in the same.
    2. Nine percent of representatives of the rest of the teaching and research staff hired with a non-permanent link or who, having a permanent link, teach less than 6 ECTS in the Faculty.
    3. Thirty percent of representatives of the student body enrolled in the Faculty.
    4. Ten percent of representatives of the administrative and service staff who provide their services in the Faculty, including the library, and in the Departments that teach at least twenty-five percent of their teaching load in the Faculty of Education.
  2. In the event that the students and the administrative and service staff do not fully fill the positions that correspond to them on the Faculty Board, these positions will be assigned to the sector of teaching and research staff hired on a non-permanent basis.
  3. In the event that the teaching and research staff hired on a non-permanent basis do not fully fill the positions corresponding to them on the Faculty Board, these positions will be assigned to the students.
  4. Those who hold the position of Director of Departments that teach at the Faculty and are not members of the Faculty Board will have the right to be heard in the sessions in which issues relating to the subjects they teach are debated.

If students and/or administrative and service staff do not fill all the positions allocated to them on the Faculty Board, these positions will be assigned to contracted faculty. If contracted faculty and administrative and service staff do not fill all the positions allocated to them on the Faculty Board, these positions will be assigned to students.
